Breaking the silence: The rebirth of Faroese manuscript culture
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
Faroese appeared as a written language around the turn of the nineteenth century at a time when a small but not insignificant manuscript culture arose to record ballads and other texts. This article demonstrates the role of print in the newly-formed Faroese manuscript culture, whose participants included scribes and collectors both on the Faroe Islands and in Denmark.
