'Nordicness' in Scandinavian Music - A Complex Question
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
The chapter discusses the complexity of the concept of Nordicness in music, noting that is a social and cultural construction rather than a fixed term. It discusses the national and Nordic institutional support of Nordic music and gives a historical overview of how the concept has developed since the 19th century. Specific cases as National Romantic music of Niels W. Gade, the Nordic Music festivals in the 20th and 21st centuries as well as a newly composed Nordic Hymn are presented and examined.
