AMICI seminar With Francisco Rivera Juaristi
AMICI seminar with Professor and Director of the International Human Rights Clinic, Santa Clara University School of Law, Francisco Rivera Juaristi. Prior to coming to Santa Clara University School of Law as founding director of the law school’s International Human Rights Clinic, Professor Juaristi was an adjunct professor of international law and human rights at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. He is a former senior staff attorney at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights of the Organization of American States seated in Costa Rica, where he was also director of that court’s internship program.
Professor Juaristi will present an article that is a continuation of the investigation that he began more than a decade ago, in which he analyzed the figure of the amicus curiae before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the first 35 years of the Court (1982-2013). The objective of this new manuscript is to update this previous study, focusing on the figure of the amicus curiae in the contentious jurisdiction of the Court between the years 2014-2024.
