Breakfast Briefing with Marc Schack

International Law Breakfast Briefing

Danish National Security Law – Developments and Challenges

In Danish

Abstract

This presentation maps out the overarching legal framework governing Danish responses to threats against Denmark’s sovereignty and national security. The presentation examines both the legal basis for handling extraordinary (and hopefully unlikely) security scenarios, such as an actual armed attack on Danish territory, as well as questions of other, less serious violations of Danish sovereignty. In doing so, the presentation seeks to provide an overview of the range of legal powers that may be triggered by such incidents, while also addressing the underlying relationship between Danish regulation and the international legal frameworks upon which this regulation often rests, reflects, or presupposes.

The briefing will be held in Danish, but all participants are welcome to contribute with questions and comments in English.
