New postdoctoral fellow at CeBIL – Laura Valtere
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Valtere, LL.M. Eur., as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Center for Bioscience Innovation Law (Inter-CeBIL).
Laura brings with her an impressive wealth of experience in the field of Intellectual Property Law as a legal advisor, legal researcher and lecturer. Her expertise lies within patent law and regulatory frameworks, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She has devoted considerable attention to the role of exclusivities as incentive mechanisms.
Laura’s academic background is equally distinguished, with a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Her dissertation, entitled “Personalised Medicine - Incentives from exclusivities provided by IP and regulatory law” highlights her in-depth knowledge and research acumen. She also holds an LL.M. in European and International Business Law (Munich), solidifying her strong foundation in the field.
In addition to her role as a legal advisor at the Ministry of Justice, Laura was a research fellow at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where she conducted legal research on patent law and pandemic preparedness. Her work as an R&D specialist at the University of Luxembourg involved cutting-edge research on digital governance and AI regulation.
Moreover, she serves as a docent and guest lecturer at the Riga Graduate School of Law and the University of Latvia. Laura is engaged in international research cooperation such as the Scandinavian-Baltic region and Japan, where she focuses on cutting edge issues.
Additionally, Laura has held the position of junior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, where she has contributed to high-impact, cutting-edge legal research and has participated in the organisation of academic workshops and seminars. Her comprehensive research and practical experience make her an ideal addition to our dynamic team.
