Status of Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Stewardship Programmes in Sierra Leone: A Global South Perspective

Ibrahim F. KamaraAbstract

Even though antimicrobial resistance (AMR) affects everyone and everywhere. Recent data have suggested that the burden is higher in sub-Saharan African countries as compared to other parts of the world. Furthermore, women and children are at increased risk of suffering from the impact of AMR.

The workshop is based on the AMR and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) efforts that are being implemented in a low-resource setting. It will give us an insight into how the global north and global south can collaborate to implement proven public health interventions to combat AMR and guide rational prescribing of antimicrobial agents.
