Inter-CeBIL Postdoc Sebastian Porsdam chairs a panel at the CIS Workshop on dialogue between the public and scholars

On Friday, November 1, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Law (CIS) is holding a workshop on the dialogue between scholars and the public, the dissemination of science, and the right to science. The idea behind the workshop is that there is an increasing need for accurate, accessible and engaging science communication – not least in light of the rapidly growing impact of science and technology on everyday life and politics, and the rise in science denial and science populism, which gnaw on society’s trust in science.

There will be three panels, each lasting two hours and consisting of three panel talks followed by a Q&A session. Inter-CeBIL Postdoc Sebastian Porsdam will chair the third panel on Generative AI and scientific communication, along the sides of Inter-CeBIL collaborator Brian Earp, co-founder of the Hopkins-Oxford Psychedelic Ethics (HOPE) hub, and a co-founder of the experimental philosophy movement, as well as Hazem Zohny, a senior philosopher at Oxford. This panel will explore issues related to the use of large language models for scientific communication, while the two others focus on diplomacy in science and scientific communication.
