Ellen Suneson

My research explores modern and contemporary art and scholarly methodologies, with a particular focus on feminist and queer feminist perspectives. I currently hold a post doc position divided between the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at Copenhagen University and the Division for Art History and Visual Studies at Lund University (Jan 2024 - Dec 2026). This project, titled "To show but not tell: on themes of passivity, submission, and internalization in 1970s Nordic feminist art", is founded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). I hold a PhD from the Division of Art History and Visual Studies at Lund University and defended my doctoral dissertation "Portraying Unease: the Art and Politics of Uncomfortable Attachments" (Makadam Förlag) in 2022. My research interests include emotional responses to art, institutional theory, and affect theory.
