Lecture with Hadir Jabotinsky on The Use of AI in Academic Writing
Since the release of ChatGPT in late 2022, generative AI has rapidly entered the world of academic writing, reshaping how scholars draft, research, and even conceptualise their work. This lecture explores how AI tools are transforming academic and legal scholarship, while raising urgent questions about transparency, trust, IP rights and authorship. The lecture examines whether AI can (or should) be treated as a co-author, what disclosure obligations may arise when AI is used in writing, and how publishers and editors can respond to a growing challenge: assessing credibility and originality in AI-assisted submissions.
