Mercenarism and the Accountability Void
Panel discussion.
This month, the MERCURY team welcomes several Visiting Researchers including from Victoria University of Wellington and Arizona State University to collaborate on the project. The focus of their time in Copenhagen covers a variety of mercenary-related topics including challenges in Asia-Pacific countries (an oft-neglected region when it comes to mercenarism), the role of data science in helping to ensure accountability for the victims of mercenarism, and the links between mercenarism and counter-terrorism.
The researchers will present papers on topics including country-case studies, analyses of the legislative frameworks relevant to mercenaries, counterterrorism as a legislative framework to counter mercenaries, and methodological considerations. At the end of the day, there will be a roundtable discussion.
