Research team

The research team responsible for the BASE survey consists of Associate Professor in immigration law and integration law, Silvia Adamo, and PhD student Maj Rørdam Nielsen. Both are employed at the Centre for Private Governance (CEPRI) at the Faculty of Law at University of Copenhagen.

Maj Rørdam Nielsen is a PhD fellow and does research on immigrants’ access to housing, work and healthcare in Denmark. She has an MSc in Sociology from the University of Copenhagen and an M.A. in International Law and Settlement of Disputes from the UN University for Peace. Maj has experience from a number of social scientific research projects where she has been working with methodology, questionnaire development and statistical analysis. She has previously worked internationally with humanitarian and development aid as well as with Afghan and Somali diaspora groups in Denmark.

Silvia Adamo is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen. Her research and teaching focus on immigration law and integration law, EU law, citizenship law and legal philosophy. She is the recipient of the 2019 Young Researcher Fellowship by the Carlsberg Foundation for her project “Law and Private Governance for a new Understanding of Immigrant Integration” (2020-2023). She was previously a member of the international research collaboration “bEUcitizen: Barriers towards European Citizenship”, which was funded by the European Commission (2014-2016). She is associated with Center for Immigration Law and Policy at the UCLA School of Law, and she has previously been a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley School of Law (2011) and Queen’s University, Department of Philosophy (2006).
