Academic Requirements for Admission and Course Offers

Exchange students

International exchange students who have previously followed a full law program for a minimum of 1½ years or preferably 2 years or more will be qualified to obtain admission. Only master level courses are open to exchange students. This means that Danish students have studied law for 3 years before they enter these courses, so the academic level offered to exchange students will correspond to master level studies. Please note that no undergraduate / bachelor level courses are available to exchange students.

Language Requirements

The English-taught courses are conducted at an advanced academic level and you must therefore have a good command of English to be able to follow courses and participate in group discussions. We have no formal language test requirement, and it will always be the student's responsibility to have sufficient language skills from the beginning of the exchange.

Courses offered in English

The course descriptions for the present academic year are available online. Find the course descriptions here

Every year around mid or late April the course descriptions for the coming academic year will be announced on the same webpage. Approximately 30 master level courses taught in English are offered each semester in addition to approximately 70 Danish master level courses. Additional information is available here.

The majority of our law courses have the value of 15 ECTS and a few courses have the value of 7.5 ECTS (the latter is offered in a block-structure where it is only possible to select one 7.5 ECTS law course per block). Exchange students may take courses corresponding to 22.5 to 35 ECTS in total for one semester. A full study load is normally considered to be 30 ECTS.

We recommend that exchange students combine their courses by choosing one of the following course options:

  • Option 1: Two 15 ECTS courses, or
  • Option 2: One 15 ECTS course and two 7.5 ECTS courses

Below you can see the specific information related to 7.5 and 15 ECTS law courses.

15 ECTS courses

  • The syllabus will consist of approx. 750 pages
  • 56 contact hours in total.
  • The course will be taught 4-5 hours per week for 2 x 6 weeks (after 6 weeks there will be a break for 1-2 weeks followed by 6 weeks with classes).

7.5 ECTS courses

  • The syllabus will consist of approx. 375 pages.
  • Has 28 contact hours in total.
  • The course will be taught 4-5 hours per week for 6 weeks.
