CIIR Lunch Meeting: Governance of non-personal data (Tommaso Fia)
Tommaso Fia is a PhD Researcher at the Department of Law of the European University Institute (EUI). His research interests encompass governance of non-personal data, data ownership, the commons and property theory. In his doctoral research project he investigates whether the theories of the commons and democratic governance can provide viable normative grounds as to opening up access to non-personal data, and explores the relevant implications for (intellectual) property and private law in the EU. He is one of the coordinators of the Information Society (InfoSoc) Working Group of the EUI, and is a teaching assistant for the modules ‘Private Law in the Digital Markets’ and ‘Consumer Law’ of the University of Turin. In the next few months, he will be visiting the CIIR of the University of Copenhagen and the Amsterdam Centre for Transformative Private Law of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) to carry on writing the doctoral thesis and road-testing it by engaging in conversations and discussions with the resident researchers.
