State Aid and Tax
State aid plays a key role in the European Union and the internal market, as well as in the relationship between the EU and the rest of the world. The interplay between taxes and state aid is becoming increasingly important in several ways, particularly in relation to the rulings of the European Court of Justice in cases tried by the European Commission on the tax setup of large multinational groups.
Most recently, the topic of tax and state aid has intensified with the US $369 billion climate-friendly subsidy package, which has prompted a response form the European Commission to further investment in renewable energy.
This conference features the most prominent experts in the field of state aid and taxes to shed light on these important topics:
- Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission
- Isabel Verlinden, Corporate Tax Strategy Leader at PwC
- Ruth Mason, Professor of Law and Taxation at University of Virginia
