On the life-cycle of some Loxosomatidae (Entoprocta)
Research output: Contribution to journal › Journal article › Research › peer-review
Two new species of Entoprocta, Loxosoma jaegersteni and Loxosomella vivipara, from southern Florida are described and figured. The larvae of the first-mentioned species were caught in the plankton and adults were reared from the juveniles liberated from the larvae. The last-mentioned species was found on various sponges and it was possible to follow and describe its whole life cycle; it is viviparous and the larvae lack an alimentary canal; the formation of the single, internal bud is described.
