EU Law Research Group
The purpose of the research group is to provide a stable and visible forum for research in EU law. A central aim of the group is to strengthen the visibility of EU law research at the Faculty and to contribute actively to the development of research-based teaching in EU law. The group seeks to facilitate sustained collaboration across research centres and to reinforce the link between cutting-edge EU law research and teaching.
The group will meet regularly to discuss developments in EU case law, legislation and scholarship under the headline New EU Law Seminar Series. The group will also serve as a platform for developing joint research and teaching initiatives.
The group’s research area is EU law, with particular emphasis on:
- constitutional law
- internal market law
- external relations
- trade and business law
- social and labour law
- environmental law
- tax law
- “New EU Law”, including the impact of digitalisation and AI.
The group conducts doctrinal legal analysis and adopts critical and contextual perspectives, drawing on approaches such as critical feminist studies, post-colonial perspectives, and socio-legal and comparative legal analysis.

The group will contribute to the research anchoring of the Faculty’s study programmes by integrating current EU law research and developments into teaching, supporting curricular development in EU law, and strengthening the connection between EU law research and education at bachelor’s and master’s level.
