Semester Dates at The Faculty of Law in 2023-24


The autumn semester starts on 4 September 2023 and will run until the beginning of December with exams in December and January.

Please find preliminary exam dates in the course descriptions. Oral and invigilated exams will be held in person. Take-home exams (“individual written assignments”) are to be handed in online. You may hand in your assignment from anywhere in the world until the deadline – as long as you observe any time differences. See additional information about public holidays in the academic calendar.

The spring semester starts on 5 February 2025 and will run until mid-May. Exams start in mid-May and continue until 30 June 2024 included.

Arrival / Introductory programme
The Faculty of Law arranges an orientation day for all new exchange students. Please observe that each semester, the Orientation Day is held in the week before the semester starts and we strongly encourage you to take part in it. We will post more information about the orientation day on the UCPH intranet as it takes shape in the months before your arrival.

The University of Copenhagen offers one Danish language course free of charge for exchange students (Danish language courses are not open to students from Iceland, Sweden and Norway). Danish language courses are optional.

Each semester, the University of Copenhagen offers a course in Danish Culture and a range of intensive courses about Danish cultural and historical issues such as Danish Cinema, Nordic Mythology and the Royal Danish Court. The courses are open to all exchange students but please observe that the ECTS-values of these courses will be included in the total study load of 30 ECTS. Find the culture courses here.
