This article shall provide a brief overview of the Danish competition law regime. Denmark got its first modern EU-style Competition Act in 1997. The conformity with EU rules was not complete from the beginning, but over the years, the Danish competition law regime has grown more and more EU compliant through numerous amendments to the Danish Competition Act. After twenty-five years of more and more EU-compliant competition law regulation, the Danish competition law mirrors the EU tradition with rules on prohibition on anti-competitive agreements, prohibition on abuse of dominance and merger control. The public enforcement system is primarily in the hands of the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority and the Competition Council with appeal possibilities. Private enforcement is not very well developed yet.
