AI Innovations, Empathy and the Law: A User-Centric Perspective on Copyright and Privacy
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
Legal communication and pre-contractual communication are dependent on mutual understanding and acceptance by the participants. Understanding is based on underlying ethical norms and empathy, in the sense of cognitive empathetically-basic elements. These elements have to be integrated in the development and use of AI in legal processes, certainly in the context of intellectual property rights and privacy. Notwithstanding the current scarce emphasis on this approach, for the future of business relations a consciousness of the importance of cognitive empathy in legal relations should be recognized in order to create a smooth and mutually trustful framework on all legal levels. This is particularly prominent in cases that concern processing of personal data and protection of creative products by the use or further development of AI.
