Hjalte Osborn Frandsen awarded Fulbright Grant to work on Space Law in Austin, Texas
CIIRs Phd Fellow Hjalte Osborn Frandsen has travelled to Texas to begin a 6 months visiting scholarship at University of Texas at Austin. Hjalte has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Grant. In Denmark, the Fulbright award is supported by the Danish and the American state and aims at fostering collaboration and cultural exchange between the top students and scholars from both countries.
In the Austin, Hjalte will work at the interdisciplinary research center Roberts Strauss Center for International Security and Law with astrophysicists, engineers and space lawyers. Hjalte will be part of the centers Space Security, Safety, and Sustainability Program and participate in the planning and execution of the “Anthropogenic Environmental Impact on Space Traffic” 2022 Space Traffic Management Conference that will be held at the University of Texas in the spring.
While in the United States Hjalte will gather empirical data from space industry, such as SpaceX and NASA, with the aim of shedding light on emerging norms for Rules-of-the-Road in orbit. I addition, Hjalte will collaborate with Dr. Moriba Jah (behind the Space Traffic monitoring platform Astriagraph) about how space traffic can be governed in the future.
