Hrefna Dögg Gunnarsdóttir

    Hrefna Dögg Gunnarsdóttir is a PhD Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Biomedical Innovation Law (CeBIL), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen. She joined CeBIL on 1 May 2019. Her research project explores the intersection between data ethics and law from a patient governance perspective. Her supervisor is Professor Timo Minssen.

    Prior to undertaking the PhD, Hrefna worked as a practicing attorney at Réttur - Aðalsteinsson & Partners, a Reykjavík-based law firm which emphasizes human rights litigation, including data privacy and protection. Other, temporary assignments include legal consultancies for the UNHCR, research on human rights issues on behalf of the Icelandic Minister of the Interior and providing legal aid to refugees in Lesvos, Greece on behalf of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE).

    Hrefna graduated with a BA and Mag. Juris in Law from the University of Iceland (2012) and with a MA in Disaster Management from School of Global Health, University of Copenhagen (2018). She was admitted to the Icelandic Bar Association in 2013.
