About the centre

The research goals of the Centre are to develop a basis, founded on legal studies, for describing the welfare society in the continuing Danish-European integration process. The aim is to meet an urgent need for legal research into the challenges that the Danish welfare society is facing as a result of the increasingly ambitious European project.

So far, Danish legislation and application of law have been influenced by the national law format and approach, while the transversing market dimensions of EU law have played a limited role.

The Centre seeks, therefore, to:

  • Contribute to the systematic construction of the legal foundation for a welfare order based on European market integration as an aspect of the Danish welfare society
  • Contribute to the establishment of the research base for a Nordic welfare platform in a European context
  • Develop theoretical and factual knowledge on the clash between a traditional Danish (Nordic) welfare model and the EU law-oriented welfare concept.
  • Study selected areas where this complexity is relevant and illustrative
