Michał Kania is a Senior Researcher at Purchase Power – Sustainable Public Procurement Through Private Law Enforcement (PurpLE)at the  Centre for Private Governance and will be dealing with the questions regarding public procurement law impact on the interpretation of contract law. Before taking the position at CEPRI he has worked as professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Law in Poland. His main research expertise focus on public procurement law, Public-Private Partnerships, and concession contracts with over 100 research publications.

Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the George Washington Law School at GWU (2018-2019), a Visiting Fellow at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich (2017). In the past, Michał has provided his insight and expertise through various roles, among others as an independent expert in the European Investment Bank European Public-Private Partnership Expertise Centre. He is also vice-president of the Silesian Arbitration Tribunal. Michał was a speaker at international conferences, inc. George Washington University in Washington, DC (2018), University of Florida (2019), PACE University in New York (2019), University of Warsaw (2020), World Bank (2020) and EPCO Annual Public Procurement Conference (2021).

His publications met with interest of Advocate General of the European Court of Justice, who in his opinion to the judgment in case C 332/20 quoted Michał joint publication with professor Marta Andhov ("Choosing the Private Partner for a Public Private Partnership: A European Union Law Perspective on Polish Practice", Polish Review of International and European Law, vol. 2, 2013, p. 148).

He contributed to the professionalization of the procurement sector through teaching and training at public procurement contract management, exclusion from the public procurement procedure, Anti-corruption regulations in public procurement, implementation of ADR mechanisms within public procurement disputes. He also teaches on the preparations and formation of PPP agreements, including concessions contracts. Michał lectured at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland), universities in Hasselt (Belgium), Brno (Czech Republic) and Maribor (Slovenia).
