New visitor at iCourts Nikolaj West

Nikolaj WestNikolaj West is a Danish lawyer visiting iCourts from April to June 2013.

During his stay at iCourts Nikolaj will prepare an article on the independence of international courts. He will address the subject both through a comparison of selected international courts and bodies and through the perspective of main international standards related to domestic courts.

Nikolaj has been employed as head of section in the Danish Ministry of Justice, as attorney in the Law Firm Hjejle Gersted Mogensen and the Law Firm Poul Schmith/The Legal Adviser to the Danish Government, as Legal Officer for the OSCE and as Legal Adviser to the Minister of Justice for the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo. Nikolaj has taught both European Union Law and Public International Law at the University of Copenhagen.

Nikolaj has an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a cand.jur. from the University of Copenhagen. Also, he holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Copenhagen, partly from Aarhus University.
