New visitor at iCourts – Tom Daly

22 January 2016 – 22 April 2016.

Dr. Tom Gerald Daly is Associate Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Constitutional Law at Edinburgh Law School and Consultant Editor of one of the Council of Europe’s leading publications: the Venice Commission Bulletin on Constitutional Case-Law. From Ireland, he holds a Ph.D from the University of Edinburgh and law degrees from the Honorable Society of King’s Inns, the European University Institute (EUI) and University College Cork. He has previously worked at the Supreme Court of Ireland, the Judicial Studies Institute, the Global Justice Academy at Edinburgh University and as a consultant on Council of Europe, European Union and International IDEA projects. His research focuses on the connections between law and democracy, and his current research concerns the evolving and interactive roles of constitutional courts and regional human rights courts in democratisation processes since 1945, and the tensions between courts’ roles as democracy-builders and engines of ‘social justice’.
