New visitor at iCourts - Ezgi Yildiz

Ezgi Yildiz is pursuing her PhD degree in International Relations with a minor in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland. Her doctoral thesis investigates the evolution of the norm against torture and inhuman or degrading treatment under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Her research interests also include political violence, contemporary warfare, extraterritorial jurisdiction, and political and legal theory.

In 2013, she was awarded the Swiss National Science Foundation’s Doc.CH fund. She spent the fall semester of 2013 at CERI (Centre d’études et de recerches internationales), Science Po, Paris, and the spring semester of 2014 at ICourts, the University of Copenhagen as a visiting researcher.

During her research stay at iCourts, she will be working on her thesis project and writing about positive obligations arising from Article 3 ECHR (the prohibition on torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment).
