New Visitor at iCourts - Dr Kathryn Wright

Kathryn Wright is a Lecturer in Law at the University of York, UK, and will visit iCourts during March 2014. Kathryn’s background and research interests centre on European Union law and policy-making. Before entering academia Kathryn worked as a Parliamentary Researcher for a senior politician in the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg, and in a UK law firm. Kathryn holds a LLB (Hons) in European Legal Studies from the University of Kent at Canterbury, a diploma in International and Comparative Law from her Erasmus year at the University of Amsterdam, and a MA in European Institutions and Policy-Making from Lancaster University. Her PhD research was supported by the UK Economic and Social Research Council through the multidisciplinary ESRC Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia where she was also a Research Associate. Kathryn’s recent research investigated the European Commission’s intervention in national judicial proceedings in competition law cases. Her current research has three strands: the European Commission and courts in other policy areas; the role of courts in transnational regulatory networks; and the impact of third party interventions in judicial proceedings more broadly. She is interested in using linguistic analysis and social scientific methods in legal research.
