Artificial intelligence can make os richer - but challenges our values

Henrik Palmer OlsenThe digital development our societies are undergoing these years holds many advantages that makes our societies richer and our living conditions more pleasant. But to fully benefit from this development it is essential to be aware of some of the ethical and legal challenges these new methods contain. By cooperation of computer scientists and lawyers, Denmark can become the pioneer in regard to developing digital technology and artificial intelligence that is ethically and legally sustainable. Thus, Denmark can become the leading country in citizen-friendly and socially responsible digital technology.

But it also brings fundamental legal and ethical concerns to play: Who should have the rights to handle the personal data that are extracted in connection with diagnosis and medication? Which procedures should be needed to approve the use of this technology in the healthcare system – private and/or public?
