Professor Mikael Rask Madsen has been awarded the Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Prize 2019

Sunday 1 September, Mikael Rask Madsen, Professor of European Law and Integration at the Faculty of Law and Center Director of iCourts, was awarded one of the Carlsberg Foundation’s two Research Prizes 2019. He was awarded the prize for his groundbreaking work on the role of the European courts.

The prize was presented by H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, and Carlsberg Foundation Chairman Flemming Besenbacher at the Foundation’s annual banquet at the New Carlsberg Glyptotek.

Chairman of the Carlsberg Foundation Flemming Besenbacher says about Mikael Rask Madsen’s scientific contribution:

“Mikael Rask Madsen has made major contributions to overcoming some of the greatest challenges of our time when it comes to ensuring the continued stability and development of the international community.”

Of the total prize money of DKK 1 million, DKK 750,000 is earmarked for research activities and DKK 250,000 is a personal gift. The prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.
