New visitor at iCourts - Sofiya Kartalova

Sofiya Kartalova is a PhD student at the Faculty of Law and Research Assistant at Research Training Group 1808: “Ambiguity – Production and Perception” at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Tübingen, Germany. Her research concentrates on the interdisciplinary interaction between European constitutional law and linguistics, with the topic of her ongoing PhD dissertation being “The Strategic Value of Ambiguity for the Authority of EU Law in the Dialogue between the European Court of Justice and the National Courts”. Her research stay at iCourts will focus on the application of multilingual analysis for identifying linguistic divergences between interchangeable terms in the European Court of Justice’s preliminary rulings, with a particular emphasis on the phenomenon of ambiguity.
