Joanna Jemielniak, Wen Xiang and Güneş Ünüvar (iCourts) received a DKK 57 400 grant from Carlsberg Foundation for the organization of the II Nordic-Chinese Forum for International Economic Law in April 2019. Organization of the 2019 Forum events has also been supported by funding from the Dreyer Foundation and ThinkChina.dk

The Forum will consist of a 2-day international academic conference (April 10-11), followed by a Special Seminar (April 12), aimed at legal professionals and the business community. The Forum is a sequel to the conference and special seminar on China in International Economic Dispute Resolution, organized in January 2018, and supported, among others, by Dreyer Foundation, ThinkChina.dk, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Denmark.

The 2019 edition of the Forum will focus on the role of China in pursuing the goals of sustainable development, and its impact on Danish and other Nordic trade and investment partners. It will explore such topics as, inter alia:

  • energy, climate change and health: China’s green policies and practice in investment ventures
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals and challenges for developing countries (i.e. in Africa) hosting Chinese investments
  • Nordic countries and China: green technologies, trade synergies and trade competition
