New visitor at iCourts - Anna Aseeva

Dr. Anna Aseeva is a post-doctoral researcher, project : “International economic law and natural resources”, Laboratoire Centre d’Etudes Juridiques et Politiques (CEJEP) and CNRS LIttoral, ENvironnement and Societies (LIENSs) La Rochelle, France; and adjunct professor in EU Law at HEC Paris.

Anna holds a Degree in International Relations from the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID); a Master in European Studies (majoring in ‘Law, Institutions and Society’) from the University of Geneva; a Russian Law Degree (J.D. equivalent); and a PhD summa cum laude in Law from the Law School of the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), Paris.

During her PhD, Anna taught Public international law at Sciences Po Paris, and Law in the global context at the Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. Since 2015, she regularly teaches courses in EU law in the first year of Masters at HEC Paris. She provided professional consultations on investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Sustainable Energy Division; and on re-definition of key terms of relevance for climate justice in international investment agreements to French National Economic Social and Environmental Council (ESEC/CESE).

Anna’s most immediate endeavours of research and teaching are legal-political critique, legal sociological insights of law, and the concept of the commons. Her particular research focus is presently at the interface of transnational trade and investment law and regulation, and international environmental law and climate justice. Her detailed case studies delve into specific instruments stretching from the standards ISO, through national, regional, and international law affecting the biodiversity, life sciences sector, to international investment, and patents/ IPRs relating to marine genetic resources.
