Breakfast Briefing with Cornelius Wiesener and Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen

Responsibility in Partnered Operations – Specialized Regimes’

Cornelius Wiesener and Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen are currently engaged in a research project aiming to map and disentangle the different grounds and avenues under which states can incur responsibility for misconduct by partners (i.e. other states, armed groups and IOs) in international military operations. On 29 October 2020, the speakers presented Part I of the project concerning the general rules of state responsibility. This sequel presentation focuses on the relevant specialized regimes of international law, primarily the jus ad bellum, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law.

About the speakers: Cornelius Wiesener, postdoc, and Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen, Professor WSR, are both affiliated to iCourts, Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, and participants in the InterMil project, which conducts strategic research and provides research-based public-sector consultancy within the field of military studies.
