Salome Addo Ravn is a PhD Candidate at the Centre of Excellence for international courts (iCourts) at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen. She practiced as a lawyer in Ghana where she is a member of the Ghana Bar Association before joining academia. Her areas of interest and research are international law, international human rights and regional human rights courts.

In her PhD project: ‘An assessment of the Authority of the African Human Rights System through its evolution,’ she explores the political, legal, and social contexts influencing the authority of the African human rights system. She assesses the system through the interface between its main institutions, specifically the African Court and the African Commission and its constituencies. Her work queries the purpose of the system, and whether obligations and directives flowing from the system influence the behaviours of stakeholders, especially States.
