abstract = "Objectives: To test the reliability and validity of the papilla index scores of the implant-supported single crowns (ISSCs) of maxillary central incisors.Materials and Methods: Twenty-five patients with 25 ISSCs were included. Two prosthodontists evaluated the papilla index score (PIS) of three positions for each patient: 1)mesial papilla index score of ISSCs, 2)distal papilla index score of ISSCs, 3)distal papilla index score of the contra-lateral central incisor. The intra- and inter-observer agreement were analysed by Cohen{\textquoteright}s ¿. Additionally, the papilla height (ST)was measured and the papilla fill percent (PP) was calculated. The validity of PIS was tested against the corresponding papilla fill percent (PP) by using the Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The intra-observer agreement was >70% in 4/5 and >50% in all observations, the pooled Cohen{\textquoteright}s ¿ was 0.64 and 0.70 for two observers respectivly. The inter-observer agreement was >70% in 2/5 and >50% in 4/5 of the observations, and the pooled Cohen{\textquoteright}s ¿ was 0.45. The implant mesial PIS had the overall highest observed inter-observer agreement followed by the contra-lateral tooth distal PIS. The implant distal PIS had the overall lowest inter-observer agreement. The PIS score demonstrated significant correlation to the corresponding PP value (rs=.567, p=.000).Conclusions: The feasibility, reliability and validity of the PIS made the parameter useful for quality control of the pri-implant soft tissue of ISSCs.",
