My research focuses on the implications of the modernization and globalization of agricultural value chains for farmers and farm workers, especially in developing countries.

I use quantitative methods and both primary and secondary data. I have conducted fieldwork in Peru, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Cote d'Ivoire.

Primary fields of research

Sustainability standards and certification, contract farming, farmer cooperatives, farm labor and working conditions, food and nutrition security, gender equality.
