What if we created a multispecies meeting place on the edge of Lejre town? What if people’s existing landscape commons around Gershøj, Sæby and Holtensminde were all connected and expanded to include the Lillemose wetlands as a new shared nature and activity space? How can landscape design help balance the needs of locals, visitors and nature habitats around Herslev harbour and beach? This volume presents strategic design work by landscape architecture students at the University of Copenhagen. From February to April 2021, 33 students from nine countries explored landscape futures in Lejre municipality. In dialogue with municipal planners, local residents and entrepreneurs they developed eight projects that aim to unfold modern rural living close to the city.
