Types of exams and the Danish grading scale
Types of exams
At The Faculty of Law the following types of exams is used:
- Oral exams with or without synopsis - the exam consists of the student selecting an exam question by drawing lots and answering it on the basis of the literature used in the classes. Twenty (20) minutes including grading are allocated to each student for the oral exam. At oral examinations carried out on the basis of a synopsis the exam paper and its topic and issue are used as a starting point. The answer controls the level and nature of the questions asked during the initial part of the examination, but it is not a limiting framework for the examination.
- Written examinations with invigilation - These 4-hour exams takes place at the faculty. Please note, that you might be asked to bring computer equipment, if you do not want to write in hand.
- Assigned individual written assignment (i.e. take home assignments) may have a duration of 1 day, 2 days or 3 days. Students download the assignment paper at a specific time from Digital Exam and submission is made within a specific deadline.
- Individual written assignment (i.e. take-home assignments). The exam consists of an assignment written during the semester and submitted by a stated deadline

In cooperation with teachers and course director the board of studies has determined goal descriptions for all courses to make it clear to the students which competencies are expected to be developed during the course. This will give the students a higher degree of legal certainty in connection with grading.
A general goal description has been made for the course subjects in the Master’s programme curriculum. This is supplemented by subject specific goal descriptions, which appears from the course descriptions of the individual.
