Master level courses

All exchange students (regardless of whether you are a bachelor or master level student in your home university) will be given access to all master level courses at the Faculty of Law. Be aware that bachelor courses will not be offered to exchange students and are therefore not accessible.

All courses last one semester. The majority of law courses have the value of 15 ECTS but it is also possible to choose courses with 7.5 ECTS value. When you register for a course, you will automatically be registered for the exam.

A 7.5 ECTS course
• Has 28 contact hours in total.
• The syllabus will consist of approx. 375 pages.
• The course will be taught 4-5 hours per week for 6 weeks.

A 15 ECTS course
• Has 56 contact hours in total.
• The syllabus will consist of approx. 750 pages.
• The course will be taught 4-5 hours per week in 2 x 6 weeks (after 6 weeks there will be a break for 1-2 weeks followed by 6 weeks with classes).

The majority of courses have a limit of max. 36 students.

It is not compulsory to attend classes, but we strongly encourage you to do so. Before each class, you are expected to do a considerable amount of reading.

Study load

A full study load in one semester consists of 30 ECTS credits. Law courses with ECTS credits of 7.5 and 15 ECTS are offered as part of our law programme. You can choose to register for law courses in the following manor. See the approximate class hours and expected reading material.

You have the following options for a full study load in one semester
• Option 1: Two 15 ECTS courses
• Option 2: One 15 ECTS and two 7.5 ECTS courses

As an exchange student you can choose to take a minimum study load of 22.5 ECTS if this is approved by your home university.

Are you also registered in another Faculty?

If you are enrolled in another faculty as well, your study load may be less than 30 ECTS at the Faculty of Law, due to this or due to a restricted permission in your enrolment here.

All classes start with the academic quarter

All classes start after an academic quarter e.g. if your class is scheduled to start on 8:00 it will start at 8:15 and a class scheduled for 10:00 will start at 10:15 etc. This academic quarter gives you plenty of time to go from one classroom to another.
