Transatlantic University Collaboration in Climate Change and Energy Law (TUCCCEL)
TUCCCEL is an educational initiative, initiated with support from the European Union’s Jean Monnet Programme. The Faculty of Law is carrying out this project with partners from the University of Denver, the University of Colorado and the University of Oslo.
The project is funded and runs from 2019-2021.
At the core of the project is the development of a new course on comparative climate and energy law in the EU and the USA. This course is the first of its kind at the faculty, featuring innovative elements of digitalization of education, internationalization and research-based teaching. Its goal is to render new ideas for how best to approach climate change and energy-related issues and to spread the wealth of experience that is being learned on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
For more information visit the course website of the Transatlantic University Collaboration in Climate Change & Energy Law (TUCCCEL).
The pilot project includes several innovative teaching components, such as streamed and recorded sessions where students learn about International/EU/US as well as Denmark/Colorado/Norway responses to climate change and the energy transition. Moreover, students in the three locations are organized into “teams” to collaboratively write a paper, the best of which will be presented at a conference and published in an international journal in each of the three years.
In 2019, 2020 and 2021, students meet in Copenhagen, Denver and Oslo respectively, at an international conference to present their papers and to learn from climate and energy law experts.
