This project considers shipping decarbonization. Firstly, it will focus on the regulatory framework for shipping decarbonisation at an international level – primarily focusing on the efforts by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Secondly, it will cover the regulatory framework at an EU level, where the EU Emmissions Trading System (ETS) will be analysed. Lastly, the enforcement and implementation of this regulatory framework at an operational level will be explored, using Maersk's journey to reach net zero by 2040 as a case example.
