Lorena Arismendi

Visiting Stay: August 2026 – January 2027.

Lorena Arismendi is a Peruvian Environmental Engineering student in the final stage of her BSc, specializing in Sustainability Management, with additional training in environmental assessment and control, as well as forestry and wildlife legislation. She has experience in government programs in the agricultural sector focused on water and land management.

Lorena also actively participates in an international human rights NGO, where she gives lectures on social and labour justice within the context of the green transition, and she currently serves as Vice President of a Peruvian NGO dedicated to the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, working with rural and Indigenous communities.

Traveling across Latin America has given her firsthand insight into the challenges Indigenous peoples face in protecting their territories and environmental integrity. This experience has shaped her research interests in climate-related issues, particularly environmental justice, land-use governance, and the socio-environmental impacts of the energy transition.
