Danjelle Midgley

Danjelle is an environmental lawyer in South Africa with over ten years of experience, both in private practice at a specialist environmental law firm and in the public interest civil society sector. She works as an attorney in the Activist Support and Training programme at the Centre for Environmental Rights, a leading NGO and law clinic based in South Africa comprised of lawyers who defend the right of communities and civil society organisations to an environment not harmful to health or wellbeing for present and future generations. The CER uses litigation, advocacy and activist support and training to advance their vision of a more equal society in which environmental and climate justice is realised. Danjelle is also a third year PhD student at the University of Cape Town. She is currently based at the University of Amsterdam as a visiting research fellow. Her research focuses on climate justice litigation strategies in South Africa.
