James McGlaughlin
Visiting Stay: June 2022
James is joining CILG as a Visiting Scholar from the University of Edinburgh, where he is completing his Master's in International Law. Specifically, James focuses on international investment law, having worked as an International Associate in the investor-state arbitration team of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in Mexico City (a role he continues in a consultancy capacity from the UK). Prior to this, James practised as a solicitor at Farrer & Co LLP in London after completing his Bachelor's degree in Law at the University of Bristol. James is also involved with the International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED) and its participation in the UNCITRAL Working Group III sessions on reforming the investor-state dispute settlement framework.
At CILG, James will use his professional and academic experience in international investment law to contribute to research on the EnAct Project, as well as his own research project concerning the potential of state practice to reshape international investment law in the green transition.
