Cornelius Wiesener is the coordinator of the project A New Era of Parliamentarism in the Arab World. Prior to joining this project, Cornelius worked as an external lecturer and research assistant at this Faculty and as a postdoc at the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict in Bochum (Germany). He holds a PhD in law from the European University Institute in Florence, which he defended in December 2015. His doctoral thesis examined the application and interplay between humanitarian law and human rights law in peace operations and was supervised by Prof. Martin Scheinin. During his time at the EUI, Cornelius was a coordinator of the Human Rights Working Group, for which he organised a great number of high-profile events. He has also previously worked with the ICRC, OSCE ODIHR and a number of institutions in Armenia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
