CeBIL members appointed as members of steering committee in major German Research project

The Max Planck Institute for Innovation & Competition in Munich has appointed CeBIL member Prof. Timo Minssen and the designated new CeBIL member Assoc. Prof. Sven J.R. Bostyn (more information follows) as members of the steering committee in the major Max Planck research project "Rechtsschutz biologischer Innovationen und Erfindungen".

20 years after the adoption of the EU Biotechnology Directive in July 1998, the project will conduct a broad and thorough analysis of the European legislative and regulatory framework for life science innovation, encompassing inter alia patent law, plant variety protection, procedures for receiving market authorization, regulatory data and market exclusivity, protection of trade secrets and commercial confidential information, as well as supplementary protection certificates and other forms of patent extensions etc.). The project also includes the organization of a major international conference to be held in Berlin in November 2018 and a resulting monography.

To initiate the collaboration, and to plan the book and the Berlin conference, Timo Minssen and Sven Bostyn attend a constituting meeting at the Max Planck Institute in Munich from May 23rd to 24th.
