Andreas Panagopoulos is Associate Professor of economics at the University of Crete. He holds a PhD from UCL and has lectured economics at Lancaster Management School and the University of Bristol. He was an RTN scholar at the University of Toulouse, a visiting scholar at the Law Department, University of Oxford, and the Faculty of Economics and Business, KU Leuven. He is the Founder and Head of TECHNIS, an interdisciplinary research organisation that works on innovation and intellectual property (IP). TECHNIS brings together practitioners and academics whose work focuses on all aspects of IP, involving the management of IP, the legal and economic aspects of IP, its history and its social implications.
Andreas’s research employs the tools of management science, law, and economics to rethink the role of patents as R&D incentives. The current emphasis of his research is on artificial intelligence and pharmaceutical innovation. His research has been published in management science journals such as Academy of Management Perspectives and in economic journals like The Economic Journal.
