Teas forskning forkuserer på Sydøsteuropas nyere historie, særligt på spørgsmål vedørerende historiebrug, kulturel og kollektiv erindring, identitetspolitik og populærkultur. Tea deltager i forskningsprojektet Mnemonic Migration - Transnational Circulation and Reception of Wartime Memories in post-Yugoslav Migrant Literature.

Hun er forfatter til Usable History? Representations of Yugoslavia’s difficult past from 1945 to 2002 (Aarhus Universitetsforlag 2012) og, sammen med Barbara Törnquist-Plewa, redaktør af Disputed Memory. Emotions and memory politics in Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe (De Gruyter 2016) og The Twentieth Century in European Memory: Transcultural Mediation and Reception (Brill 2018). Fra 2012 to 2016 var hun næstformand for det europæiske forskningsnetværk In Search of Transcultural Memory in Europe, finansieret af EU/COST. Tea er medlem af bestyrelsen for the Memory Studies Association (MSA).
