Private actors as providers of welfare and security services - responsibility and liability

International conference

To an increasing extent, private actors serve as providers of different types of welfare services in society that would traditionally have been provided by the public sector. This is the case with regard to a broad range of social services but also with regard to such core state tasks as the provision of safety and security. The conference focuses on issues of responsibility and liability in this regard, including possible constitutional limits to privatization, the use of a contract as a tool for the provision of the services and third party liability issues. Basically, the conference explores the possible tensions and challenges created by the use of private actors and private law tools in the public law sphere.

The conference is organized by the Centre for Enterprise Liability (CEVIA), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen and the aim is to bring together researchers and experts in specialized fields to promote an active discussion of the issues presented and the research that is needed to address these issues further.

The conference Call for Papers is open to all legal scholars with a research interest in this area and a few spots are still available. See further here:
