Re-exams and make-up exams

If you fail an exam

that is if you get the grade 00 or -3, you may have the possibility of re-sitting the exam.

To be able to re-sit an exam, please observe the following:

  • If you are an exchange student staying for one semester and you fail an exam at a December or May exam you must contact our Student Counselling Centre at the latest 3 working days after the exam in order to apply for a special re-exam before your departure back home. These special re-exams are, however, rarely offered as the ressources within this area are quite limited. Therefore, if a re-examination cannot be arranged with such short notice, you are welcome to come back at a later stage to take the re-examination, i.e. apply for the general re-exams held in Aug/Sep or Feb/March, cf. the information below.

  • If you are an LLM student or an exchange student staying for two semesters and you fail an exam in Dec/Jan or May/June, you can apply for a re-examination on KUnet (usually in the last week of January and respectively the last week of June). Re-examinations are usually scheduled in Feb/Mar and respectively Aug/Sep. If you have questions regarding re-examinations, please contact our Student Councelling Centre.

If you become ill before an exam
If you are taken ill before an exam and not able to take the exam, you may have the possibility of a make-up examination at a later time.

You can only get a make-up examination due to illness, if you submit a doctor's notice no later than 3 weekdays after the exam by use of the online form "Absence at examination due to illness". You find the form at the page of forms under the heading "Forms in English".

To have a make-up exam,

  • If you are an exchange student staying for one semester and you become ill at an exam in December or May you must immediately get a medical certificate [frihåndsattest / lægeerklæring] to certify your illness. You must then contact our Student Counselling Centre at the latest 3 working days after the exam and present the medical certificate in order to apply for a re-exam. We do not accept requests after that deadline. A make-up exam will, if possible, be arranged before your departure. If a make-up exam cannot be arranged with such short notice, you are welcome to come back at a later stage to take the make-up exam.

  • If you are an LLM student or an exchange student staying for two semesters and you become ill at an exam in Dec/Jan or May/June you must immediately get a medical certificate [frihåndsattes /lægeerklæring] to certify your illness. Usually in the last week of January and respectively the last week of June, you can apply for a make-up examination and your medical certificate will then be required. Make-up examinations are generally scheduled in Feb/Mar and respectively Aug/Sep.

If you have questions regarding re-examinations, please contact our Student Councelling Centre.
